A jar of Goorello cocoa and a warm mug on a kitchen counter in morning light
600mg cocoa flavanols per scoop

The 3pm crash isn't a caffeine problem.

It's a blood flow problem. Goorello is non-alkalized cocoa with a real, verified dose of flavanols, for steady energy, sharper focus and healthy circulation. One scoop in the coffee you already drink.

Why you feel it at 3pm

Another coffee won't fix circulation.

Caffeine borrows energy from later in the day. What actually carries oxygen to your brain and muscles is blood flow — and blood flow depends on nitric oxide, which your body makes less of as you get older.

Cocoa flavanols support that pathway. The catch: almost all cocoa on shelves is Dutch-processed, which strips most of the flavanols out before it reaches you.

Full disclosure

Exactly what's in one scoop

Most brands in this category advertise one big number and never break it down. Here is ours, straight off the Supplement Facts panel: every compound named, measured and separated.

  • 6,500mg

    Cocoa (Theobroma cacao) bean powder

Non-alkalized, so the flavanols survive processing. Dutch-processing destroys most of them.

  • 600mg

    Cocoa flavanols, as (−)-epicatechin

The compound behind the research. COSMOS, the largest trial in this category, 21,442 adults, used 500mg of cocoa flavanols a day.

  • 600mg

    Flavonoids, as rutin

A separate plant flavonoid added alongside the cocoa. Related family, different compound, which is why we don't merge the two numbers.

  • 0g

    Added sugar

Under 1g of total sugar and 20 calories per scoop. Nothing added to make it palatable.

Flavanols and flavonoids are related but not the same thing, so we list them separately rather than adding them into a single headline figure. The 600mg is the cocoa flavanol number the research is built on.

How 600mg compares to the research

Cocoa flavanol studies are unusually specific about milligrams. Here's where a Goorello scoop sits against the doses those studies actually used.

The mechanism

How one scoop actually works

No mystery blend. One well-studied pathway, three steps.

  1. 1

    Epicatechin goes in

One 8g scoop delivers 600mg of cocoa flavanols, measured as (−)-epicatechin — the compound the research is actually built on.

  2. 2

    Nitric oxide goes up

Epicatechin supports your body's own nitric oxide production. Nitric oxide is the signal that tells blood vessels to relax and open.

  3. 3

    Blood flow follows

Wider vessels move more oxygen to the brain and muscles — which is what steady energy, clearer focus and healthy circulation actually feel like.

Honest comparison

Why cocoa flavanols, not the usual suspects

Most nitric-oxide products work by giving your body raw material and hoping it converts. Cocoa flavanols support the pathway directly.

How Goorello compares with other nitric-oxide approaches
Goorello cocoa Beetroot powders Standard cocoa
How it works Supports your own nitric oxide pathway directly Converts nitrates to nitric oxide Minimal active flavanols left
Conversion needed None Depends on your oral and gut bacteria n/a
Processing Non-alkalized — flavanols intact Varies widely Dutch-processed, strips most flavanols
Flavanols stated on label 600mg, as (−)-epicatechin Rarely stated Almost never stated
Stimulants No added caffeine (under 5mg naturally) Usually none Trace
How it tastes Real dark cocoa — mixes into coffee Earthy, often masked with flavouring Mild, baking-style

Energy & circulation boost!

Noticeable energy boost with no jitters or crash. Great afternoon pick-me-up! No aftertaste at all or stomach issues and easy to swallow. Much easier to take than having to make a cup of cocoa! Also an excellent value.

Have more energy through the day

I have poor circulation, especially in my hands, which often times will get cold. […] It is fewer and further between that my hands have gotten cold recently. I also feel much more energetic and wake up feeling rested and ready for the day.

Cocoa Flavanol Supplement

The first thing I noticed when opening the bottle was that there was an aroma of cocoa. I was very surprised. These have a high concentration of cocoa flavanols, which are listed as supporting nitric oxide. I especially like that these are vegan… I also appreciate that these are sourced and manufactured in the USA.

Easy to Swallow

I've been taking these capsules on days when I skip adding cocoa flavanols to my coffee, and they've been a great substitute. I consistently notice a little extra energy during my strength-training sessions, and they seem to make me feel more steady without any jitters.

Cocoa Flavanol Pills

The purported health benefits of cocoa flavanols are amazing and I'm willing to get more of them in my diet however I can. These pills are easy to swallow, have a very slight chocolate-y flavor when swallowing and made with quality and secure packaging. Two a day has been easy to implement.

Good capsule supplement

I started taking these 600 mg cocoa flavanol capsules because I wanted an easy way to add a concentrated cocoa based supplement to my daily routine without having to drink large amounts of dark chocolate drinks or powders — and so far the experience has been very positive for me.

Three ways to take Goorello
How people use it

One scoop. Whenever it suits you.

There's no protocol to learn and nothing to rebuild. Most people just add it to something they already drink.

  • Morning

    Stirred into your coffee

The most common way by far. One scoop into hot coffee — it dissolves far more easily in warm liquid than cold.

  • Pre-workout

    Before you train

Taken 60–90 minutes ahead, for people who want the blood-flow support without a stimulant hitting them mid-session.

  • 2–3pm

    Instead of the third coffee

The slot most customers say they feel it most — the afternoon dip, without borrowing energy from tonight's sleep.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Rich dark cocoa: closer to real chocolate than to baking powder. There's no added sugar, so it isn't sweet. Most people stir a scoop straight into coffee; it also works in milk, oat milk or a smoothie. Warm liquid dissolves it far more easily than cold.

There's no added caffeine. Cocoa naturally contains a small amount: under 5mg per scoop, roughly a twentieth of a cup of coffee: plus theobromine, a mild, longer-acting relative of caffeine. Most people drink it in the afternoon without any effect on sleep, but if you're very sensitive, take it earlier in the day.

Blood-flow effects from cocoa flavanols are measurable within hours, but what customers tell us they actually notice: the afternoon dip flattening out: usually shows up around day three of consistent daily use. Circulation and cardiovascular benefits are a longer game: think months, not days.

It's a fair question: cocoa powder is concentrated cacao solids, and independent testing has repeatedly found lead and cadmium across the category. Goorello is third-party tested for heavy metals and contaminants, and produced in an FDA-registered, GMP-certified facility in the USA.

Alkalizing ("Dutch-processing") neutralises cocoa's acidity to make it smoother and darker: and destroys most of the flavanols along the way. That's why standard supermarket cocoa can't deliver a meaningful dose. Ours is never alkalized, which is the whole reason the flavanols survive to the scoop.

Both deliver 600mg of cocoa flavanols. Choose the powder if you already drink coffee every morning and want the ritual. Choose capsules if you travel, dislike the taste of unsweetened cocoa, or just want the dose without the two minutes of stirring.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first: particularly if you take blood pressure or blood-thinning medication, or if you're pregnant or nursing. This is a food supplement, not a medicine, and it isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Start with one scoop tomorrow morning.

Most people notice the afternoon dip is gone somewhere around day three. Thirty servings, one jar, no routine to rebuild.
