How It Works
Cocoa flavanols are naturally occurring plant compounds shown in research to support healthy circulation by helping blood vessels relax and function normally. Better blood flow means more oxygen and nutrients reaching the organs that depend on it most — your brain, your heart, your muscles.
Most cocoa products (chocolate included) are processed in ways that strip flavanols out almost entirely. Goorello is formulated to preserve a clinically meaningful 1,200mg dose in one simple daily capsule serving.
How To Use
Mix 1 scoop with 8-12oz of water, coffee, milk, or a milkshake. Take once daily, preferably 30 minutes before your workout or first thing in the morning on rest days.
Pro tip: Consistency is key. Take it every day (even on rest days) for best results.
What's Inside?
Goorell Cocoa Blend
Each serving delivers 600mg of cocoa flavanols (as (-)-epicatechin) and 600mg of flavonoids (as rutin) — 1,200mg combined, but these are two different compound classes and should not be summed into a single 'flavanols' figure.
Pure Cacao Polymer (4g) Natural dietary fiber to support gut health and slow the absorption for Sustained Energy (No crash).
Plant-Base Polyphenols A broad spectrum of antioxidants to fortify Cellular Resilience against daily oxidative stress.
Natural Mineral Trace Essential minerals found naturally in our premium cacao to support Immune Function and muscle relaxation.

Exactly what's in one scoop
Most brands in this category advertise one big number and never break it down. Here is ours, straight off the Supplement Facts panel: every compound named, measured and separated.
6,500mg
Cocoa (Theobroma cacao) bean powder
Non-alkalized, so the flavanols survive processing. Dutch-processing destroys most of them.
600mg
Cocoa flavanols, as (−)-epicatechin
The compound behind the research. COSMOS, the largest trial in this category, 21,442 adults, used 500mg of cocoa flavanols a day.
600mg
Flavonoids, as rutin
A separate plant flavonoid added alongside the cocoa. Related family, different compound, which is why we don't merge the two numbers.
0g
Added sugar
Under 1g of total sugar and 20 calories per scoop. Nothing added to make it palatable.
Flavanols and flavonoids are related but not the same thing, so we list them separately rather than adding them into a single headline figure. The 600mg is the cocoa flavanol number the research is built on.

High quality and purity!
I specifically bought this because it is not Dutch-processed. It has clean ingredients: No sugar, no fillers, just pure cacao goodness that you can smell and taste. I love the flavor and quality of the powder. This isn't that chalky, bitter baking cocoa. It has a rich, deep chocolate flavor with a smooth texture that mixes perfectly into my morning smoothie, coffee, and recipes that my family love! No clumps! My favorite is the energy bites I made, perfect to carry around.

Don’t let the smooth taste fool you, this is high potency stuff!!
I noticed some confusion in other reviews about the ingredients and cocoa content, so I wanted to share my experience. I think because Goorello uses things like vanilla bean and lucuma to help with the flavor, it tastes much smoother and less 'dusty' than what people usually expect from a dark cocoa. But the numbers are what really sold me, each serving has 600mg of flavanols and 600mg of flavonoids, which is incredibly high compared to standard powders. I also love the value here; you get 30 full 8oz servings in this bottle. Most other brands I looked at give you way less product per container, so this actually lasts a lot longer. I also saw someone mention they couldn't find a website, but I just searched for the brand on Google and found them right away. I actually contacted them through their site to ask about their third-party testing for heavy metals and purity, and they were super transparent and helpful. It’s a great find if you want the actual health benefits of high-strength cocoa without that typical bitter aftertaste.

High-Potency Flavanol Cocoa
I’d been looking for a legit flavanol supplement to improve circulation and boost my energy, but most options are either overpriced or too low in actual potency. I chose this after comparing labels with other “premium” brands, and honestly it matches them, if not better. The ingredient list is clean with no weird fillers. Quick tip: this is pure cocoa, not a sweet instant drink. Since it has no lecithin or added chemicals, it doesn’t mix easily in cold liquids (which feels more natural to me). I blend it into my morning protein shake or milk and it works great. The taste is intense and earthy, like real dark chocolate. I also like that it’s made in The States in a regulated facility. If you want real benefits without paying for hype, this is a solid choice.

New into Cocoa thing, so far so go.
A doctor friend talked me into trying cocoa, mostly for heart support, so I started searching for one to test and taste. I found this to be one of the best priced options, with the same ingredients, and in some cases even better ones, compared to others. The taste is exactly what you would expect since it has zero sugar. It has no noticeable smell, and the texture is what real cocoa should be like, which is hydrophobic. Because of that, it can be a little harder to mix properly, and that is actually a good sign. If cocoa mixes too easily, it is usually not the real thing. I use a small powered mixer, but a regular spoon works too, it just takes a bit longer. It is harder to mix when using cold milk, water, or coffee, and much easier when the liquid is warm. For now, the FDA says cocoa may reduce cardiovascular risk. The studies are clearly out there, but the FDA takes a very long time to officially back anything. The quality is great, and the presentation is solid too. I checked the lab that makes it, and it is certified and listed on the FDA website. It is also based in the US, which is an important thing to look for these days.

Cocoa Flavanols: My New Superpower (Daughters Still Unmoved)
I grabbed this just because it said cocoa, and I was curious about the flavanols, which I had to look up. Seeing lucuma powder initially threw me off, but I quickly learned it is a natural sweetener, making me fine with trying it. That flavor balance works well with the dark cocoa. The taste is good. It has a definite dark chocolate profile with a nice, balanced level of sweetness. I just mix this into my coffee and its easy to drink with an overall mocha like flavor. It is an enjoyable way to start the morning while I run through my queue of new and old R&B tracks. The container itself is straightforward. There is a plastic tamper-evident seal over the top of the lid, which even has perforations for easy access. The best-by date stamped on the bottom is about three years out, which gives more than enough time to get through the whole jar of 30 servings.

Great supplement for me
I have been using this high flavanol cocoa powder daily and it has been easy to work into my routine because of how simple and clean it is. The dark cocoa flavor is rich and pleasantly bitter in a natural way rather than sweet or artificial which I really like. I usually mix it into warm water or almond milk and it blends smoothly with a spoon without clumping or leaving gritty bits at the bottom of the cup. The powder is fine and evenly textured and it dissolves better than many cocoa style supplements I have tried. I also appreciate that it does not have a strong smell or aftertaste and it feels more like drinking a lightly concentrated cocoa than taking a supplement. Over time I have come to enjoy the consistency and quality from serving to serving. The flavor stays stable and does not vary between scoops which gives me confidence in how it is produced. I have also used it in smoothies and oatmeal and it adds a deep cocoa note without overpowering other ingredients or changing the texture. The container seals well and keeps the powder fresh and dry and the serving size is easy to measure without making a mess. Overall this has been a well made cocoa supplement that focuses on taste mixability and everyday usability and it fits naturally into my daily habits without feeling like a chore to take.

Energy , memory, and Vitality Booster
This cocoa+ Flavanols supplement is easy to incorporate into my routine. The powder is fine, easy to mix, and there are 30 servings in my jar. I added this to a smoothie and it tastes good, and only has 20 calories, yet it helped with my afternoon energy slump. The label also states you can use in coffee, milk, or even oatmeal. The distributor lists their contact information as well as their website location on the label. I appreciate that this is made in the USA in a GMP facility, and it's 3rd-party tested. My supplement arrived fresh and has an expiration date that expires in about 3 years.

Rich, dark cocoa flavor, mixes well, made in US GMP facility and 3rd party tested
This cocoa powder with flavanols is delicious. I love dark chocolate and coca flavor, so this really hits the spot, especially when I mix it with my morning coffee. Initially I tried adding a couple of teaspoons of allulose, thinking it might be too bitter, but it really didn’t need it. Yes, it does have that bitter chocolate flavor, but it is rich and chocolatey, not the sharp battery acid bitterness of some dark cocoas. I love that not only does it add flavor, but it has potential health benefits too. I am a middle aged perimenopausal woman, so I need as many circulation and mental sharpness boosters as I can get. I was dragging today, so I had an extra cup of my mostly decaf coffee with a half scoop of the goorello cocoa powder. It blended right in with my frother and stayed mixed in until I finished the whole cup. It didn’t have any noticeable grittiness. The energy/alertness boost wasn’t immediate, but after an hour or so I noticed I was much more alert and was able to make it through the rest of my day without feeling like if I blinked too long, I might fall asleep. It’s the little things these days! I am looking forward to trying this in my yogurt and smoothies, but for now, this cocoa powder with my collagen powder and some nondairy, unsweetened creamer in my morning coffee each day is a delicious and nutritious way to start my morning. Overall, the quality of this cocoa powder is excellent. The package says it is made in the US in a GMP facility and the amazon listing says it is 3rd party tested, both are important for supplements which are entirely unregulated and a good sign of a quality product. The price seems about on par with the quality and quantity of the cocoa powder, making it a decent value.

Great Addition to My Morning Protein Shake
The dark cocoa flavor is exactly what you’d expect, it has that natural cocoa bitterness , which I personally like. Because of that, I add it to my vanilla protein shake and it blends in perfectly, giving it a rich chocolate taste without overpowering it. I take it in the morning as part of my routine because it gives nice and steady energy boost especially since you shouldn’t go over the recommended dosage. It mixes well, doesn’t clump, and feels easy to incorporate into my day. I also like knowing I’m getting a good amount of cocoa flavanols per serving. it feels like a high quality supplement. It’s good value too.

Nice size, top notch cocoa powder
Wow this is the most potent, high quality cocoa that I have ever seen. Initially I thought it would make good hot cocoa for my children. Upon reading the label though, I decided this is better suited for adults. My husband was thoroughly impressed with it and adds it to his coffee. I am going to try baking with it and update this review. It is slightly bitter, as an true cocoa powder would be. Does get your heart going though, I feel like it lives up to the claims on the label though. Pictured next to a standard soda can for size reference.

It's chocolate, almost too much chocolate!
This is pure cocoa all day. You can see it, you can smell it, the dust will get in your eyes and you can FEEL it. Oh man this stuff gets everywhere! Trying to get a half a scoop is like trying to get boulders to not rolls down a steep hill, as soon as the scoop touches the stuff, it explodes into a powdery mess!! On that note, this does the job, mix it with some water and you have a chocolate drink, mix it with coffee and you have chocolate coffee. Only problem is the taste isn't all that great. It's ok, but it's more of a pure, darker chocolate Cocoa powder, whereas something a little lighter would mix a lot better and not be as sharp.

High Quality Ingredients
I'm going through perimenopause so thought I've give this Goorello cocoa powder a try to see if it would help boost my energy level and help with my brain fog and cardio health as stated in the product info. I add chocolate flavored-collagen powder to my coffee every day and have also been adding a scoop of this cocoa over the past few weeks. It smells fantastic and contains lucuma powder (sort of an earthy deep caramel flavor), vanilla bean powder, and Himalayan salt, but I couldn't really taste a difference except that the texture of my coffee was a tad thicker and left a sort of smooth sensation on my tongue (hard to describe). I also mixed this powder into coconut milk with a frother but had to add sweetener because it didn't taste great. As for how it made me feel: my stomach felt fine, I got my period as usual the last two months, and I do feel like I've had slightly more energy throughout the day. Based on my results, I feel that this cocoa powder is of good quality. I think it could work well in recipes that call for cocoa powder, but it's more pricey than regular cocoa powder so I'd use it sparingly for that purpose. If you're looking for a tasty way to add flavanols into your diet and are willing to pay a little extra for high-quality ingredients, I recommend giving this product a try.

Good product if you're looking for a high-flavanol cocoa powder
I became interested in the idea of high-flavanol cocoa powder because medical sources I trust (e.g., the Harvard Health newsletter) have noted that there is some evidence that flavanols in cocoa have beneficial health effects, including blood clot prevention. As I have a history of blood clots in my leg (which ended up becoming pulmonary embolisms that could have killed me), I am very motivated to try new products that might help prevent a recurrence. Plus, of course, I love chocolate! So I definitely considered it a win-win situation to check out this high-flavanol cocoa powder. Although it’s really designed to put into your daily smoothie or hot chocolate drink, I decided to test out how well it might work in a brownie recipe, since that’s my family’s preferred form of chocolate intake and apparently flavonoids do pretty well at surviving the baking process. After doing a bit of online sleuthing, I learned how to adapt cocoa brownie recipes for using high-flavanoid cocoa, which has a stronger flavor than regular cocoa but is also more acidic and bitter. The recommendations are to add extra sugar, mix the cocoa with hot water or butter before adding other ingredients (“blooming” the cocoa), adding extra moisture and adding a bit of baking soda to neutralize the acidity. I found a recipe that already had some of these elements, adjusted the rest and was off to the races. The end result was quite good and my family and I appreciated the intense chocolate flavor of the brownies made with high-flavanol cocoa powder. This cocoa powder is also great for adding to one’s morning coffee and only adds 20 calories per serving, which is a big plus. Although I can't really know the extent to which use of this product improves my health, unless perhaps I take it over a very long period of time (and even then it's hard to isolate the effect of one health behavior), it certainly won't make it worse. My only real complaint is that at $34.99 for 30 servings (of 8 grams or 1 scoop each), it’s on the expensive side. However, the price seems to be in line with what this type of cocoa costs, or perhaps even a bit less expensive. My bottom line is that if you’re looking for a high-flavonol cocoa powder in particular, then this is a really good product. If you don’t really care about the potential health benefits, then it may not be worth it.

Chocolatey goodness -yum!
This Flavanol Cocoa Powder Supplement is delicious! It has the natural bitterness of natural cocoa (like dark chocolate), which is what I like. It can be mixed with water for a hot chocolate type drink, or mix it in your coffee for a mocha! (Really, mix it in something to drink and you are ready to go - makes consuming this easy!). I’ve only tried mixing this into hot beverages and it mixes very well. I like that this is 3rd party lab tested for lead, cadmium, and other contaminants. I also like that this is non-GMO, made from natural ingredients, is packed with flavonoids and is caffeine free. Per the ad this supplement is suppose to boost your nitric oxide levels which helps support heart health and circulation, improve your energy levels, and help boost your focus and clarity. Have I experienced said benefits? It is hard to say as I haven’t been taking this for very long. I can say that I like the taste. I do not notice a difference in energy levels, but I do feel mentally clearer. I’ve noticed my feet are not getting as cold (this may indicate improved circulation). I do feel the list price of $34.99 is a bit high for 30 servings. But that’s just me. Time will tell how beneficial this ends up being.

Low in sugar, but higher in flavanols, this is a rich, smooth cocoa for baking and smoothies.
There is a lot going on with this cocoa. It doesn't add a lot of sugar or protein, but has increased levels of flavanols and flavenoids and a good, rich chocolate flavor. It is easy to use for baking or smoothies (I love to add with milk and bananas for a simple chocolate, banana smoothie). It's easy to mix in and has a smooth texture and no weird aftertaste. A fair value for this larger canister, which will last several months and is easy to use. Comes in a sturdy container with an easy-screw lid for clean and mess-free serving and use.

Tastes Good, Just Too Early to Tell.
I haven’t been using this long enough to really say if it’s doing anything for my heart or blood flow yet, but I can say the taste is actually good. It has a nice dark cocoa flavor and doesn’t taste chalky or weird like some supplements do. I usually mix it into a drink and it goes down easy, no problem. Since I can’t speak on results yet, I’m giving it 4 stars for now. If I start noticing a difference after using it longer, I’d definitely come back and update. Overall, not bad so far and I don’t mind taking it at all.

Best Part of Winter
In the winter months there is nothing like a warm cup of hot chocolate at the start or the end of my day, especially after digging the driveway out of several inches of snow. I also sprinkle it on my ice cream, yogurt, or granola, or add fresh berries for an extra boost. The cocoa has a rich, dark chocolate flavor without being overly sweet, and it mixes well into warm milk, coffee, or even smoothies. I love that it’s high in flavanols and antioxidants, which support heart health, circulation, and mental sharpness. I’ve noticed I feel more alert and focused after a cup, especially on busy mornings or chilly evenings. It doesn’t taste bitter like some pure cocoa powders, and it blends smoothly without gritty bits, which makes it easy to enjoy every day. It is made in a US GMP facility and third-party tested, so I trust the quality, and I know I’m getting the nutrients I'm aiming for. It smells amazing right from the packaging, even better when it's steaming inside of a cup of warm milk. I can also use it in baking or desserts to add chocolate flavor without extra sugar. The price feels fair for the amount and quality, and the packaging keeps it fresh, making it easy to grab a scoop whenever I want. Overall, it’s become my go-to for both a cozy nightly treat and a versatile ingredient that adds nutrition and flavor to other foods.

Great flavanol product
I love the rich chocolate taste of this cocoa supplement. It pairs very well with my peanut butter protein shake that I take 2x per week. The chocolate is dark, which I love, but not too dark. The powder also mixes well with real ice cream shakes. I do that for a treat. The powder is very finely ground, like most cocoa powders, so I expect that it will mix well with other drinks as well. I've only been mixing it with cold liquids, so I can't comment on hot drinks. For most drinks, I use a blender bottle, and for the ice cream shake, a commercial blender. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that the scoop was buried at the bottom of the bottle. Just a little annoying.

Healthy chocolate drink that isn't too sweet
The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't dissolve as much as I'd like and I guess that is normal. Then again, I tried it first in my ice cream. It does dissolve better in water or milk, but I think it does better in a hot or warm liquid. This does taste really good and I like how it makes me feel more energetic. I've taken cocoa as a super food before, but this one seems better to me. It provides a lot of health benefits and seems like a really good quality. I do recommend this chocolatey powder and think it is worth the price.

Mixes well with yogurt
I use this cocoa powder mixed in with Oikos triple zero vanilla Greek yogurt; chocolate flavor Gold Standard whey protein; and Naked PB peanut butter powder as a “desert style” high protein snack (typically a single serving of the yogurt with 1 scoop from each of the other ingredients). The cocoa powder mixes well and biases the chocolate flavoring to a richer dark chocolate profile. Recommended.

High concentration of flavanol per serving. Recommend adding to beverages / food to improve taste
Really like the high concentration of flavanol - there's 1200mg per serving whereas medical studies typically use only 400-900mg. The claims actually have scientific origin and studies have shown that consuming flavanols (usually found naturally in fruit skins and teas) do help reduce inflammation (which stresses your immune system out). Taste is ok. I recommend adding to coffee, smoothies, or as an ingredient in oatmeal, etc. Doesn't taste that great on it's own dissolved in water.

Tastes good and easy to use, just a bit pricey
I have been using this cocoa flavanol powder for a bit now, mostly in my morning smoothie with fruit and veggies, and it’s been easy to work into my routine. The flavor is a nice dark cocoa, rich but not overly bitter and it blends in well without leaving a chalky texture. I don’t feel like I need to mask it with anything heavy, which is a plus. I’ve also tried it on its own mixed with cold water and ice. With a quick shake or stir, it mixes up fine and goes down easily. It doesn’t feel gritty, and the taste is still pleasant even without anything else added. As for results, it’s a little too early for me to say much beyond how it fits into daily use, but I do like that it’s something I don’t mind taking consistently. That alone makes a difference with products like this. The main downside for me is the cost. For the serving size, it feels a bit expensive, especially if you plan to use it every day. The quality seems good, but I do wish the container lasted longer for the price. Overall, it’s a solid product with good flavor and easy mixability. I’m giving it four stars, worth trying if you are looking for a cocoa-based powder like this, but the price keeps it from being a full five.

It’s a great quality cocoa, can be slightly bitter
My daughter considers herself a cocoa connoisseur and I consider myself a health guru so my review is coming from both of these angles. We first tried mixing this into cold milk which did not work, the powder just sat on top. Then we advanced to using hot milk snd it mixed in much more smoothly. At first she could not taste the cocoa so we needed to add more and more. Then suddenly she could taste it and she told me it was the most bitter cocoa she had ever tasted (perhaps she was being a bit dramatic). Anyways - don’t let these deter you. I still think that using a blender or mixer could probably allow this to be easily blended into just about any liquid hot or cold. And I think if you were mixing it into a smoothie or coffee or anything else it still has the potential to add a nice cocoa flavor without being overwhelming. My daughter can be picky. I’m still impressed by the antioxidant and flavonol content of this cocoa powder and thinks its benefits warrant continuing to use it. We just won’t overdo it with how much we put in. The amount of cocoa you get in the can is impressive for the price and feels like it will last a long time. I love that it’s made in the USA and 3rd party tested for quality. It can be a little messy so make sure to open it carefully!

Good Quality but Still Deciding on the Benefits
I ordered this goorello High Flavanol Cocoa Powder Supplement because I have been hearing positive things about the potential health benefits of cocoa. This cocoa appears to be good quality. The ingredient list states 6500 mg of cocoa per serving. The powder dissolves and mixes much better in warm liquids than in cold liquids. The taste is okay. It is a little bitter, which is to be expected with high flavanol cocoa. I think it may be helping my energy level, but it is hard to say for certain. At this point, I find it somewhat expensive given that I am still unsure of the overall benefit.

Tastes fine in many blended drinks. It does NOT make chocolate milk.
I don't know why I thought I was ordering high quality baking cocoa powder that also just happened to have health benefits. I should have read the description better. But, in the interest of science I made some smoothies and hot chocolate drinks to see how it fared. First, it was pretty easy to use - just scoop and blend. I blended it into a couple protein shakes, black coffee, and packet hot chocolate drinks. It added a dark chocolate flavor to all, but I think I like it best in black coffee. It was kind of a mocha flavor without getting too thick. I can't say that it added any energy or health benefits to my body, but since I didn't order it for that, I don't care. The powder was of good consistency and will probably last a while on my shelf if I don't use it up quickly. I personally think $34 for this size container is too expensive. Yes it tasted fine, yes it's a food-supplement, but I don't think in the long run its worth it unless you a serious health nut who plans their micronutrients out down to the microgram. I am not that person, so perhaps this wasn't meant for me.

No noticeable difference to regular
After a month of using this, I didn't really feel any benefits over and above the regular cacao I had been using, so when it ran out, I just went back to the regular stuff.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Rich dark cocoa: closer to real chocolate than to baking powder. There's no added sugar, so it isn't sweet. Most people stir a scoop straight into coffee; it also works in milk, oat milk or a smoothie. Warm liquid dissolves it far more easily than cold.
There's no added caffeine. Cocoa naturally contains a small amount: under 5mg per scoop, roughly a twentieth of a cup of coffee: plus theobromine, a mild, longer-acting relative of caffeine. Most people drink it in the afternoon without any effect on sleep, but if you're very sensitive, take it earlier in the day.
Blood-flow effects from cocoa flavanols are measurable within hours, but what customers tell us they actually notice: the afternoon dip flattening out: usually shows up around day three of consistent daily use. Circulation and cardiovascular benefits are a longer game: think months, not days.
It's a fair question: cocoa powder is concentrated cacao solids, and independent testing has repeatedly found lead and cadmium across the category. Goorello is third-party tested for heavy metals and contaminants, and produced in an FDA-registered, GMP-certified facility in the USA.
Alkalizing ("Dutch-processing") neutralises cocoa's acidity to make it smoother and darker: and destroys most of the flavanols along the way. That's why standard supermarket cocoa can't deliver a meaningful dose. Ours is never alkalized, which is the whole reason the flavanols survive to the scoop.
Both deliver 600mg of cocoa flavanols. Choose the powder if you already drink coffee every morning and want the ritual. Choose capsules if you travel, dislike the taste of unsweetened cocoa, or just want the dose without the two minutes of stirring.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist first: particularly if you take blood pressure or blood-thinning medication, or if you're pregnant or nursing. This is a food supplement, not a medicine, and it isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
The 600mg of cocoa flavanols in one scoop is in the range studied in major cocoa flavanol research. The COSMOS trial — the largest study in this category, run by Harvard/Brigham and Women's Hospital over 3.6 years — used 500mg of cocoa flavanols daily and found meaningful cardiovascular benefits. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' 2022 guidance also points to 400–600mg of daily flavanol intake for cardiometabolic support.
The additional 600mg of flavonoids (as rutin) is a separate compound with its own research base, which is why we list it separately rather than folding it into one combined number. The 1,200mg figure reflects flavanols and flavonoids together — it isn't a single dose that's been studied as one substance.
Beet root powder provides dietary nitrates that convert to Nitric Oxide via gut bacteria, a pathway that is less reliable and highly dependent on individual microbiome composition. L-Arginine provides a precursor for NO synthesis, but its effectiveness diminishes significantly with age due to enzyme competition. Cocoa flavanols work by directly stimulating endothelial cells to produce NO, a more direct, reliable, and age-independent mechanism, backed by a substantially larger body of clinical evidence.
